Our Leadership Team

elders Doug Forsyth (Pastoral and Counselling)

I trusted in Jesus Christ as Saviour in my last year of school and had the desire to go into full time ministry. Anne and I studied at Dallas Theological Seminary and started pastoral ministry at the Chapel in Jan 1987. We have four grown children, three of whom are married and our youngest son is finishing his theology studies with a view to be in pastoral ministry.

My focus is pastoral ministry which includes; preaching, teaching, counselling and discipleship. I am also teaching at the International College of Bible and Missions. I am presently serving as a pastor at the Chapel and another area of responsibility is counselling and oversight.

David Livie (Pastoral and Youth, Worship and Music, Young Adults)

Don Maitland (Pastoral and Counselling)

I was brought to Christ by the grace of God in early February 1954 (through the faithful witness of a lady, now 95!). I studied at Bible Institute of SA and later the Baptist Theological College and International College of Bible and Missions. I am involved with teaching Scripture, Biblical counselling and general pastoral work at the Chapel.

Manie Groenewald (Prayer and Property)

I was convicted by the Lord while busy with catechism in 1967 in the town of Carolina – I could not answer ‘yes’ when Dominee Dreyer asked whether I knew the Lord. Since then many lessons had to be learned, all the while experiencing that the Lord will not break a bruised reed or quench a smouldering wick. My wife, Annatjie, and I are now retired. We have three married daughters and a grandson.

I would like to see that the church remains/ becomes a house of prayer. I am on the property committee of the church.

Jacques de Villiers (Children and Sunday School)

When I was in standard five the Holy Spirit gave me the desire to read through God’s Word. Through this and the dedication of some Godly Sunday-School teachers I came to know and grow in the Lord.  I started coming to the Chapel in 1989 after I met Tersia. We have two adult children, Armandt and Dané, and I rejoice in the fact that they are also actively involved in ministry at the Chapel.

I have a real passion for children’s ministry and I thank the elders and congregation for allowing me to serve as the branch chairperson of the South African National Sunday School Association.

deacons Wayne Sinclair (Missions)

My wife and I came to know Christ at a home cell meeting in Ennerdale Johannesburg. This was the first time where we heard a clear presentation of the Gospel from a godly man who lived a godly life. We have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, and two beautiful granddaugthers. We have also been blessed for one week (1981), with a son, and for five days with a grandson (2005). Both are in heaven now.

I was the Sunday School ministry for 4 years when the Lord burdened my heart for the missions ministry that had last operated two years previously. By God’s grace, the ministry has been restarted, and we are in the process of stabilising it and planning for the future.
