Opposition in the journey of discipleship (Mark 2:1-3:6)

David Livie, 1 December 2013

Part of the Mark series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

1. The problem of opposition. The world is opposed to our beliefs and practices. They opposed Jesus firstly in their hearts (2: 6-7), then approached the disciples (2:16), then questioned Jesus (2:18), then accused Jesus (2:24), then conspired as to how they may destroy Jesus (3:6).
2. The solution of the problem. When faced with opposition we should model our response on that of Jesus. We should persevere and boldly point the person to Jesus.
3. Application to our lives.
