Part of the Gospels series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

1. He saved us.
2. He shapes us.
3. To serve.....
4. The function of a servant.

Man's sinful state:
- spiritually dead in our sins.
- disobedient to God
- gratify sinful selfish desires
- by nature object of wrath, doomed to hell
- God made us alive with Jesus Christ
- Jesus Christ died for our sins
- We can now have a relationship with God
- He saved us because of his great love.
- live for his Glory

We are not saved by our goodworks

He saved and shaped us so that we can serve

Ephesians 2:1-10

1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (KJV)

1 Timothy 3:1-5

1This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) (KJV)

Acts 4:12

12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV)

Acts 16:31

31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (KJV)

Titus 3:5

5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (KJV)

Romans 8:29

29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (KJV)

Philippians 2:13

13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (KJV)

Galatians 13:11-15
