The property committee would like to see that the physical part of the church property is a welcoming, pleasant and God-honouring environment. Property matters are typically divided into two parts, namely development and maintenance.
As regards development, as you know, the church has applied for rezoning of the property from ‘agricultural’ to ‘residential 2’ which will allow us at some stage in future to build residential units as well as teaching facilities.
Since funds are limited, some of our projects are on our wish list, for instance to sink a bore hole (so that we are not dependant on municipal water for maintaining the garden), installing electricity-saving lights and geysers, upgrading our kitchen, and so on.
As regards maintenance, one would find the normal tasks such as repairing and painting. The church property is maintained by many volunteers, to whom we are indebted.
At present the property committee consists of Doug Forsyth (maintenance), Anne Forsyth (planning – chapel needs), Bryan Forsyth (planning – youth needs); Braham Edwards (finance), Derek Ellerbeck (development), Manie Groenewald (chair).
